Bloom Session 4

In this session, we will learn how to create a big book using Bloom.

The data files for this session are found in the Data\Spider Big Book subfolder

Start Bloom.

Choose a Collection

  1. The main window appears.  Click Other Collections.  The Open/Create Collection dialog box appears.
  2. Click English Books.

The main window reappears.

Create a Big Book

  1. Click Big Book. Click Make a book using this source icon.
  2. The My Book pages screen appears.
  3. Enter the The Very Busy Spider in the book title textbox.  Click Change Image in the picture frame, then click File and select PicCover.jpg.  Set up metadata.  Click OK.
  4. Edit credit page by clicking Click to edit Copyright & License.  Then enter the  contents of Credits.txt into the appropriate textboxes.
  5. Review the Instructions page.
  6. Click Add Page and select Just an Picture and then click Add This Page. Insert Pic1.jpg in the picture frame. Click Add Page and select Just Text and then click Add This Page.  Insert contents of Text1.txt in the textbox.
  7. Click Add Page and select Just an Picture and then click Add This Page. Insert Pic2.jpg in the picture frame. Click Add Page and select Just Text and then click Add This Page.  Insert contents of Text2.txt in the textbox.
  8. Click Add Page and select Just an Picture and then click Add This Page. Insert Pic3.jpg in the picture frame. Click Add Page and select Just Text and then click Add This Page.  Insert contents of Text3.txt in the textbox.
  9. Click Publish. Select Simple. Click Save PDF
    Navigate to the output folder and click Save.

Exercise

To practice creating a big book using Bloom, do the following:

  1. Add the pictures and textes of the rest of the story using the given pictures and text.
  2. Add metadata for the pictures.
  3. Create a pdf file.
  4. Display the pdf file
