FLEx Session 8 – Import & Dictionary view
Objective

To show how to import SF data, potential difficulties to look out for in SF files and how to get around those difficulties if they are present.

Import SF Data
-
Create new project call Bambara.
-
Backup project.
-
In the File menu, point to Import and click Standard Format Lexicon.
The Import Standard Format lexical data dialog box appears.

Click Next.
-
In the Database File box, select BambaraDemo.db. Set Settings info. Click Next.

Click Next.
-
Verify mappings and make appropriate changes. Click Next.

Verify markers. Click Next.
-
Click Next.
-
Click Generate Report. Check report. Click Next.

Click Finish.
Have participants import a SFM database.
Talk about difficulties.
Import LIFT Data

Create new project call Zanaki.
-
Backup project.
-
In the File menu, point to Import and click LIFT Lexicon.
The Import/Merge From LIFT File dialog box appears.

Browse for Lift File (Zanaki.lift). Click OK.
Export to SFM and LIFT.

In the File menu, click Export.
The Export dialog box appears.
Talk about export templates. Show folder that contains them
Dictionary view
You can configure what a dictionarty should look like.
Dictionary view

In the View menu, point to Lexicon and click Dictionary.

To configure dictionary, in the Tools menu click Configure Dictionary.
The Configure Dictionary View dialog box appears.

In the Choose Dictionary view to configure box, do one of the following.

Select Root-based.

Select Stem-based.

Click OK.
You can display the dictionary for checking.

In the View menu, point to Lexicon and click Dictionary.
The dictionary is displayed

In the Tools menu, click Configure Dictionary.
The Configure Dictionary View dialog box appears.

In the Configure box, check the appropriate items.
Note sections contain subfields that can be checked.
Note you can change style for a check box.
Note you can the surrounding parameters.

Click OK.
