Practice Projects for Paratext Courses

Practice Project Description

  • The Practice Projects are a very important part of the Paratext Courses.

  • Almost all of the practice during each course is done in a Practice Project.

Installing Practice Projects

  1. Download the necessary Practice Projects for the Course you will be going through.
  2. Open Paratext.
  3. Go to the File menu and choose Restore Project > From File... 
  4. If you do not see Restore Project, do this:
    1. Hold the SHIFT key down
    2. While holding SHIFT, go to the Window menu and untick Simplified Paratext Menus.
    3. Click OK in the confirmation window.
    4. Restart Paratext. 
    5. Go to the File menu and choose Restore Project > From File...
  5. Go to the folder where you saved the Practice Project file(s).
  6. Choose a Practice Project to install/restore (for example: EPP1).
  7. Click Open.
  8. If you see this window:

    Restore Practice Project

    1. click YES.
    2. Important Note: ONLY click yes for Practice Projects. Do NOT click yes for any "REAL" project.
  9. If you are using this Practice Project on multiple computers for a course, you should want to rename the project on each computer so it doesn't get mixed up with Send/Receive.
    1. Click New Project.
    2. Click Edit.
    3. Give it a good name. You could use initials to make it easy. For example:
      1. Full Name: English Practice Project JP
      2. Short Name: EPP_JP
      3. Click OK.
    4. Click OK.
  10. Click Select All Files.
    1. Untick Stylesheet.
    2. Untick Versification.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Repeat for any other Practice Projects you need to install.
  13. If you had to unticked Simplified Paratext Menus, please do this:
    1. Hold the SHIFT key down.
    2. While holding SHIFT, go to the Window menu and tick Simplified Paratext Menus.
    3. Click OK in the confirmation window.
