Bloom Session 3
In this session, we will learn how to create a shell book for others to use. First we will create a new collection and then we create a shell book. Then we will make a Bloompack for this collection that can be sent to others to create books in their language.
Start Bloom.
Create a new collection.
- In Create New Bloom Collection dialog box
Select Source Collection and Click Next.
Enter My Shell Books as the collection name and click Next.
Click Finish.
Create a Shell Book
- The main window appears.
Click Basic Book.
Click Make a book using this source.
Click Settings. Click Book Making tab. Set Front/Back Matter Pack to Paper Saver.
- The My Book pages screen appears
Enter Animals as title and add a picture of a dog from the Art of Reading collection onto the Front Cover page.
Enter credit information onto the Credits page using Creative Common license.
Edit Title page as appropriate.
Click Add Page and select Picture & Word and then click Add This Page. Insert Cat into the textbox. Insert a cat picture from the Art of Reading collection.
Click Add Page and select Picture & Word and then click Add This Page. Insert Dog into the textbox. Insert a dog picture from the Art of Reading collection.
Click Add Page and select Picture & Word and then click Add This Page. Insert Chicken into the textbox. Insert a chicken picture from the Art of Reading collection.
Click Add Page and select Picture & Word and then click Add This Page. Insert Goat into the textbox. Insert a goat picture from the Art of Reading collection.
Click Add Page and select Picture & Word and then click Add This Page. Insert Cow into the textbox. Insert a cow picture from the Art of Reading collection.
- Make a Bloom Pack.
Click Collections tab. On the toolbar, Click Make a Bloom Pack. Enter file name for the Bloom Pack and click Save. The bloom pack is created and is ready for distribution.
Close Bloom
- Start the newly created Bloom Pack. Click OK.
- Start Bloom again to use the shell books from the Bloom Pack.
Create a new collection for your language.
In the Source for New Books pane, under My Shell Books select Animals.
Select Make a book using this source.
You ready to translate the book.
Exercises
To practice creating a shell book using Bloom, do the following:
- Create a shell book using the pictures and text in the Agama zip file. Create it in the My Shell Books Collection. Use the Basic Book template.
- Fill in the front cover page, the credit page and the title page.
- Create the necessary pages for the story, trying different template pages.
- Create a Bloompack for My Shell Books Collection.
- Use this Bloompack to create a booklet in your language..
