Course Instructor Computer Setup

Description

  • As an instructor, it is important to have your computer setup so that is easy to see from a distance when projected in the classroom.
  • If you are going to teach a Paratext Course, I recommend following the steps described here to setup your computer for teaching.
  • Here are some suggestions to make that happen.  These should work for Windows VistaWindows 7, and Windows 8.

Increase Screen Magnification

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. In the upper-right, search for display.
  3. Click on Make text and other items larger or smaller.
  4. Choose 150%.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Logoff your computer.
  7. Logon to your computer.
  8. Test these settings on the projector you will be using, in the room you will be teaching.
  9. If the text is too large from the back of the room, try 125%.

Increase Mouse Pointer Size

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. In the upper-right, search for mouse.
  3. Click on Change how the mouse pointer looks.
  4. In the Scheme drop-down, choose the Windows Standard (Extra Large) option.
    1. To avoid confusion, it is best to use a Standard scheme rather than Aero, Black, or Inverted.
  5. Click Apply.
